The Elves and the Christmas Lights
In twilight’s hush, when stars first gleam,
The elves wake up from their cocoa dream.
With mittened hands and hearts so bright,
They’re ready to string the Christmas light. They hum soft carols, sweet and clear,
For Christmas Eve is drawing near.
They climb the eaves and twist each wire,
Their lantern eyes reflect the fire.Tangles, knots, a jolly mess—
But laughter fills their workshop’s press.
Each bulb they test, each strand they weave,
A glow of joy they shall achieve.Soon the rooftops, trees, and snow
Will shimmer in a golden glow.
For though it’s work till morning soon,
They’ll have it done before the moon.So if you see a flicker bright,
Before the dawn, before the night—
Just know the elves are almost through,
And Christmas lights will shine for you. ✨
